Swing Education

What it is
Substitute-teaching platform — you sign up, meet your state's requirements, and pick up assignments at schools and districts Swing partners with. THE CLASSIFICATION WRINKLE IS THEIRS, IN THEIR OWN WORDS: 'Depending on the state where you substitute teach, you may be working as an independent contractor or as an employee of your substitute company, like Swing' — so which one you are depends on your state, and their site says so rather than picking a flattering answer. Their FAQ: 'Does Swing take a cut from my pay? No' — the rate you see is what you earn; paid weekly, same-day pay in select areas
What you need
state-by-state — their own requirements pages; California's list: a bachelor's degree or higher, DOJ/FBI fingerprint clearance, harassment-prevention training, and Swing's setup steps. A California substitute permit is NOT required to start with many assignments, and their Permit Assist program helps you get one — their words; other states differ, read yours
How you get paid
Per assignment at the rate shown before you accept — 'The pay rate you see before accepting an assignment is the amount you'll earn for that job'; paid weekly, same-day in select areas — their own pages
Worker costs
No worker fees — 'Does Swing take a cut from my pay? No.' — their own FAQ, verbatim
